What’s unique about the Wellness product?
As a holistic food line, Wellness has many of the same ingredients, approaches to nutrition and lack of by-products, wheat, corn and soy as other brands of pet food. But what sets the Wellness brand apart from our other holistic brands is its commitment to maintaining above industry standard requirements in quality ensuring consistency and purity throughout their manufacturing process. All ingredients contained in the Wellness formula, whether cat or dog, dry or wet, are carefully balanced to produce a unique blend of premium pet nutrition.
Wellness Ingredients Breakdown
Over 95% of ingredients used in Wellness foods come from the United States and Canada. They source ingredients internationally when it’s the best quality available – for example, lamb from New Zealand – and when ingredients are not available domestically. While 95% of the ingredients are sourced from the US and Canada, 4% come from Australia and New Zealand and 1% come from Asia or Europe.
CORE Dry Cat Food
The CORE line of dry cat foods is labelled protein-focused nutrition’ because it contains over 80% high-quality animal protein – the highest level of meat protein possible in a dry cat food. Cats evolved as strict carnivores and their systems can handle foods that are mostly meat protein. Wellness uses lean meats to control both fat and calorie levels, and they include potatoes or fibre to maintain a grain-free product. They also keep the ash to a minimum for optimum urinary tract health.
Grain-Free Wet Dog Food
There are four formulas of 95% meat, grain-free wet dog food available at Bosley’s Pet Food Plus: Chicken, Beef, Salmon or Turkey. These cans are advertised as ‘intended for intermittent or supplemental feeding only’ as they are mostly meat and not a complete and balanced diet with added vitamins and minerals. The meat proteins are carefully selected to be the highest quality available. Each is all-natural, super-premium deboned meat/fish. Pet Owners who want to increase the ‘real meat’ their dog consumes will love this product.

“In the 1990’s, Old Mother Hubbard’s CEO, Jim Scott Jr., began working with a team of animal nutrition experts, veterinarians and scientists to develop a food that would revolutionize the pet food industry. The result was Wellness, a uniquely formulated holistic pet food made primarily with ingredients fit for human consumption. Wellness dog foods were introduced in 1997 and cat foods were added to the line in 2000.
