Most pet doors utilize a frame, and a basic swinging plastic flap to pass thru the door. If a pet door is going to allow access to the outdoors, there are choices that incorporate technology so only your pet with their access key will ‘unlock’ the pet door- this eliminates animals other than your pet from coming into your home.
The Petsafe Magnetic cat door will remain closed unless a magnetic pull is detected to release the latch. For even more security, the Petsafe Smart Door comes in a small or large size, and only the tag on your pet’s collar will activate the door to open. The Smart Door offers additional security for those installing a large pet door, that no person should be gaining entry to the home by way of the pet door.
